NEET 2027 syllabus follows the NMC guidelines aligned with the revised NCERT 2023-24 curriculum. If you're starting preparation now, this matters: some chapters shifted between classes and some content was restructured. Here's exactly what carries the most marks and what you can safely de-prioritize.
Biology โ The 360-Mark Subject
Biology is 50% of your score. Treat it that way. Class 11 Biology contributes roughly 45% of NEET Biology questions; Class 12 gives 55%. The highest-yield chapters:
- Genetics & Evolution (Chapters 5-7, Class 12) โ 12-18 questions every year. Mendelian laws, chromosomal theory, molecular basis of inheritance.
- Human Physiology (Chapters 17-22, Class 11) โ 10-14 questions. Digestion, breathing, body fluids, locomotion, neural control, chemical coordination.
- Plant Physiology (Chapters 11-15, Class 11) โ 8-12 questions. Mineral nutrition, photosynthesis, respiration, plant growth.
- Reproduction (Chapters 1-4, Class 12) โ 8-10 questions. Flowering plants + human reproduction.
- Cell Biology (Chapters 8-10, Class 11) โ 7-10 questions. Cell structure, biomolecules, cell cycle.
In NEET 2023 and 2024, over 70% of Biology questions were directly from NCERT text โ not just diagrams, but specific sentences. Read every word, including footnotes and box items.
Chemistry โ The Balance Subject
Chemistry is 180 marks divided roughly 40% Physical, 35% Organic, 25% Inorganic. Most students over-invest in Organic and under-prepare Inorganic. Fix this imbalance:
- Organic Chemistry (Class 12, Chapters 10-16): Alcohol, Aldehydes, Carboxylic Acids, Amines are 6-9 questions combined.
- Physical Chemistry (Class 11+12): Chemical Kinetics, Electrochemistry, Thermodynamics โ calculation-based, high scoring if practiced.
- Inorganic Chemistry: p-Block and d-Block elements, Coordination Compounds. Pure memory โ revise weekly or you'll forget.
Physics โ The Differentiator
Physics separates 580 scorers from 650+ scorers. Most students score 80-100/180 in Physics; toppers score 140+. The gap is numerical practice, not concept reading.
- Mechanics (Class 11, Chapters 2-9): Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work-Energy, Rotational Motion โ 20-25 questions.
- Electrostatics + Current Electricity (Class 12, Chapters 1-3): 12-16 questions. Heavy calculation component.
- Optics + Modern Physics (Class 12, Chapters 9-14): 10-14 questions. Modern Physics is formula-driven โ easier to score.
Struggling with Syllabus Management?
AIM720 by Padhle assigns each student a personal mentor who creates a custom chapter schedule based on your weak areas. It's the only coaching where your plan adapts to you โ not the other way around.
Read the AIM720 Review โThe key to NEET 2027 is not covering the syllabus โ every serious aspirant does that. The key is covering the right parts deeply. Focus your energy on the chapters above, and you've addressed 75-80% of the exam before touching lower-priority topics.
